The Space Between

Every story has two versions.

The one people remember.

And the one that actually changed everything.

Most people remember the first kiss.

They don’t remember the conversation that made it possible.

They remember the wedding.

Not the months of tiny decisions that slowly turned two lives toward one another.

They remember the breakup.

Not the weeks of quiet distance that arrived first.

We tend to notice events because events are easy to name.

What interests me are the moments that don’t announce themselves.

The hesitation before an answer.

The extra minute someone stays before saying goodbye.

The way a friend looks around a room before deciding where to sit.

The silence that tells you more than the conversation ever could.

Those moments rarely become stories.

They’re simply passed over on the way to something bigger.

For a long time, I assumed everyone noticed those things.

ARCHIVE NO. 01 · FLOWER MARKET · LATE MORNING

Love noticed the flowers. Boop noticed everyone else.

Eventually I realized many people didn’t.

Not because they weren’t paying attention.

Because no one had ever suggested those moments were worth noticing.

That’s the space that fascinates me.

The space between where you are and where you’re going.

Between strangers and friends.

Between dating and commitment.

Between leaving and staying.

Between asking and understanding.

Most of life isn’t lived at the milestones.

It’s lived in the ordinary moments between them.

Those moments shape our relationships.

They shape our memories.

They shape the places we return to.

And once you begin noticing them, it’s surprisingly difficult to stop.

Liminal did not begin as advice.

It began as a way to stay with the moments most people move past.

Sometimes the smallest moment is the one quietly changing everything.
